1. Agreement to Terms
By accessing or using Vamshavriksha ("the Service"), you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
We may modify these Terms at any time. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
2. Description of Service
Vamshavriksha is a free online platform for creating, managing, and sharing family trees with features like gothram & nakshatra tracking, multi-language support, family quiz, panchangam, stories, and print-to-PDF.
2a. What Vamshavriksha Does
- Family Trees: Create interactive family trees with member profiles, photos, and relationships
- Cultural Data: Record gothram, nakshatra, and other traditional details
- Sharing: Share trees via WhatsApp, join codes, or direct links
- Panchangam: Timezone-aware Hindu calendar with tithi, nakshatra, and muhurtham
- Stories: Invite family to share memories and stories about loved ones
- Print: Download family trees as PDF posters
- Quiz: Auto-generated family trivia for gatherings
2b. Service Availability
We strive for continuous availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The Service may be temporarily unavailable for maintenance or updates.
3. User Accounts & Access
3a. Tree Creation
- Tree creation requires a valid email address for verification
- Each tree is protected by an admin PIN set by the creator
- You may create up to 3 trees per email address per day
3b. Access Levels
- View access: Anyone with the tree link can view the tree structure
- Edit access: Requires the admin PIN to add/modify members
- View codes: Tree creators can set optional view codes for additional privacy
3c. Security
You are responsible for keeping your PIN and access credentials secure. We are not liable for unauthorized access resulting from shared or compromised PINs.
4. User Content
4a. Ownership
You retain full ownership of all content you upload — including names, photos, biographies, and stories.
4b. Your Responsibilities
- You represent that you have the right to share information about family members you add
- You agree not to upload false, misleading, defamatory, or harmful content
- You will not add personal information of individuals without their knowledge or consent
4c. Content Removal
We reserve the right to remove content that violates these terms, applicable laws, or the rights of others.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Create spam, fake, or misleading family trees
- Use the Service for harassment or to share private information without consent
- Attempt to access trees or accounts you are not authorized to use
- Use automated tools to scrape data or bulk-create content
- Interfere with the Service's infrastructure or other users' experience
6. Panchangam & Calendar
Panchangam calculations are approximate and provided for informational purposes only. Always consult a qualified priest or astrologer for exact muhurtham timings.
The panchangam feature uses simplified astronomical formulas. While reasonably accurate (~95%), it should not be relied upon as the sole source for ceremony planning.
7. Limitation of Liability
Vamshavriksha is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the Service.
Our total liability is limited to the amount you have paid for the Service (which is zero, as the Service is free).
8. Termination
We may suspend or terminate access to the Service at our discretion for violations of these Terms. You may stop using the Service at any time. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases, but we will not proactively delete your data unless you request it.
